The Business of Change
Powerchange has evolved into a dynamic and inter-dependent organisation that has an Executive team at the centre, a group of talented Partners and a wider team of Associates dedicated to promoting the Powerchange name.
Since April 2009 Powerchange has grown to become more outward-facing, more international in outlook and more responsive to the needs of its Clients, Partners and Associates. Its Founder Andrew Sercombe has put in place around him a dedicated team focused on taking the Powerchange brand to an ever-widening audience.
Some recent initiatives have included:
- The design of a diagnostic tool for people new to the Powerchange process called 'Step One'. This 4pp document is designed for Powerchange Gold Coaches to work through with clients, asking a series of revealing questions which will identify the areas in which help is needed.
- After nearly a decade of pioneering work in the area of Personal Development, Powerchange has taken the decision to safeguard its intellectual copyright by trademarking the name 'Auto-Response Psychology'. This describes the work that Powerchange is doing in the area of revealing the hidden unconscious behaviour patterns that we have inherited or learned earlier in our lives. These may be beneficial or not, and the process of AR Psychology is designed to put this behaviour firmly back under the control of its owner! Interestingly, this work has been running in parallel with that carried out by Professors Kegan and Lahey in the Adult Learning and professional Development Department of Harvard University's Graduate School of Education. See their book 'Immunity to Change' (Harvard Business Press). Recent contact with them prompted the flattering comment that our work was 'complementary'!
- This approach has also formed the basis of an important new piece of work which we have called the SHAPE Programme. Trialled in Arundel in January 2010, this approach to overcoming stalemate in people's lives has been proven already to be highly successful in enabling individuals who feel trapped in particular situations - often where the same behaviour has produced the same negative results - to break out of deadlock and find a new purpose. This has become a successful strategy in dealing with weight issues, addiction, relationship stand-off, career stasis and a variety of other situations.
- Powerchange has launched a new Business Development Group called 'The First Fifty' made up of Partners, Associates and Friends of Powerchange who all share the same aim - to promote the work of the Company and to do so in a profitable way for their own businesses. We have introduced a closed circulation email Newsletter that enables us to communicate with members of the First Fifty Group. We are also running Partners Training Days, Taster Days for the Gold Coach Training Course, Refresher Days for Coaches who want to upgrade their group training skills; regular news stories on the website as well as a fully manned hotline at Powerchange Central dedicated to assisting Coaches and Partners.
- We have recently teamed up with the Sussex Academy of Music (SAM) to explore Psychology and Music workshops for people who feel that they cannot learn a musical instrument or sing. Powerchange will provide the assistance to address this limiting belief and SAM will provide the music tuition.
- We have developed some overseas links in Europe, Asia and Australia with a view of taking our service into those territories - through the good offices of Powerchange GOLD Coaches who have graduated and then emigrated.
